What a fantastic, dynamic piece. I really love the PVC/ leather; it's painted so well and is probably the most photorealistic texture of the piece in general. (I bet it was so much fun to paint.) The abstract shapes of the fire juxtaposed with the tight rendering of Mystique make for a great contrast. My main criticism would be that the fire is reflecting off her clothes, but her skin appears unaffected by the flames. In reality, I think the firelight would reflect off her skin to some degree. This would have looked great on her belly, and perhaps if you added some warm tones to her arms they would "pop out" at the viewer more and add to the 3-D effect and the perspective in general. Possibly some rougher texture on the arms, to suggest skin/ scale texture, would also help the arms come forward more (although they do already). In addition, though this is not a criticism of your technique, I think you could have cropped the picture in a graphics program, to eliminate the border and make a neater presentation overall. Anyway, I should also mention that I love the flying hair, and Mystique's expression is awesome. There's not much more I can write as your skill outstrips mine, but I can say I enjoyed your work thoroughly! Wish I could paint like this! Best wishes, Donna.
Why has Mystique (covered all over in natural blue skin as she is) pink gums?
Strikes me as extremely odd. I don't know why, but I would have envisioned her with pale/light blue or even white gums, not the strikingly "normal" colour. It's for this small detail that I can't quite shake the feeling of a spray-painted "ordinary girl" (with big guns. Okay. That's not quite so ordinary. Granted.)
EXCELSIOR!!! lol excuse my nerdiness if you dont get the reference, that means your sain
